PlasticTrees asked:

Or is it credit to debt ratio? Either way, I am a college student with 1k of bad marks on my credit report from years ago. I want to get a secured credit card for the amount that would look good to lenders like “this person pays on time and has a valuable credit history w/some lenders” (ie my dell account is on there which is good and the secured card would add to it).

Am I making sense? How can I do this? I’d rather not pay off the measley 1k, it should be removed within a few years anyway.

mike p asked:

I work for a movie theather making $6.55 hr for about 25-30 hrs a week. my paycheck is usually about 130-160 takehome. I am saving right now to get a car so i can get a paper route which will bring in a little money. i am already graduated so i have plenty of spare time throughout the week. i just got done reading dave ramseys book the total money makeover and he says in order to make more money, you have to plan to make more money. so im looking for ways to earn more money. i plan on mowing about 3-5 yards this coming summer, which will get me about $75-$100 but i can do that all on one saturday. basically im wanting to work my tail off ( about 60-80 hrs a week) so that i can save up a good emergency fund, and save for a home, and retirement. i know alot of you will tell me not to overwork myself and to just work 40 hrs a week, but i can handle the work, i love to work, and im willing to make the sacrifice now for a greater result later, which is paying for a house in cash, having no car payment, having good long term investments for retirement. any suggestions will help. thanks
