Filing bankruptcy won't effect you going to school at all. As a matter of fact, if you still want to take out federal student loans after you file bankruptcy you can because federal student loans require no cosigner and no credit check. As long as you are not default on any student loans and meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards at your school, you should be able to borrow away.

Be aware this is because student loans can not be included in bankruptcy... or maybe I should reword that. They can be included, but they won't be discharged in bankruptcy. Occasionally you'll find a shady lawyer who will charge you by the item and convince you to include them... but they WON"T be discharged when it goes before the court. Student loans never go away either... so even 10 or 40 years from now, if you haven't paid them you are still collecting interest and will eventually repay it.

In addition to not being able to include a student loan in a bankruptcy, claiming bankruptcy clears out your past debt which changes your income to debt ratio. It will now appear that you have more disposable income which could affect the amount of future financial aid that you will qualify for.

You can't put your student loans on your bankruptcy. Student loans are no longer dischargeable in any chapter of bankruptcy unless you can prove that repaying the loan creates an undue hardship on you or your family.
